6. How AI will change the workforce

Smart technologies aren’t just changing our homes; they’re edging their way into their numerous industries and are disrupting the workplace. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to improve productivity, efficiency and accuracy across an organization – but is this entirely beneficial? Many fear that the rise of AI will lead to machines and robots replacing human workers and view this progression in technology as threat rather than a tool to better ourselves

Establishing a learning culture:

Many employees are well-suited for new roles in an AI world, if they embrace a mantra of continuous learning. Companies from AT&T to Flexport have built extensive programs that encourage continuous learning, enabling employees to develop new skills and remain valuable assets in an automated workplace. Such training can also be a great source of excitement within an organization and help address much of the anxiety associated with change. Companies can also leverage new technologies to help employees adapt. For example, augmented reality enables trainers to teach employees even when they are not in the same physical location.

New approaches to performance management

In a digital-first world, what metrics should companies use to measure performance in a blended human and machine workforce? Companies are not only reconsidering these metrics, but evaluating organizational structures, HR policies and workplace practices. Developing a strong understanding of this transformation must be a priority to ensure performance is fairly measured and that employees can successfully evolve and adapt to the new world order.

7. Why women are better bosses than men

The Gallup survey discovered that employees who work for a female boss are, on average, 6% more engaged than those who work for a male manager. (Female employees who work for a female manager are the the most engaged of any group of workers.)

The survey also found that women leaders themselves tend to be more engaged (41%) than men (35%).

  • Employees who work for a female manager are 1.26

times more likely than those who work for a male boss to strongly agree that "There is someone at work who encourages my development."

"This suggests that female managers likely surpass their male counterparts in cultivating potential in others and helping to define a bright future for their employees," the report says. "It does not mean that female managers are more likely to promote their associates, but it could signify that women are more apt than men to find stimulating tasks to challenge their employees, thus ensuring associates develop within their current roles and beyond."

  • Those who work for a woman are 1.29 times more likely than those who don't to strongly agree with the following: "In the last six months, someone at work has talked to me about my progress."

Female managers are more inclined to provide regular feedback to help their employees achieve their development goals — one of the three things workers said they most want from their boss.

  • Employees who work for a female manager are 1.17 times more likely than those with a male manager to strongly agree

that "In the last seven days, I have received recognition or praise for doing good work."

This suggests that female managers surpass male managers in providing positive feedback that helps employees feel valued for their everyday contributions," the report says. "It also indicates that female managers may be better than male managers at helping their employees harness the power of positive reinforcement."

8. Advantages and Disadvantages of Cryptocurrency in 2020

What is crytocurrency?

A cryptocurrency is not a type of currency which can be used in the real world. It can be used to perform transactions only in the digital world. So in order to buy/sell using a cryptocurrency, it has to be converted from a digital form to some existing currency which is used in the real world. Eg: Dollars, Rupees etc.

With the industrialization and involvement of technology, digital currencies are gaining an upper hand over others. One such currency is bitcoins. Many of us are familiar with this well-known terminology. The only confusing thing is Cryptocurrency. What are its pros and cons?

Advantages of Cryptocurrency :

  • Protection from inflation
Inflation has caused many currencies to get their value declined with time. Almost every cryptocurrency, at the time of its launch, is released with a fixed amount. The source code specifies the amount of any coin; like, there are only 21 million Bitcoins released in the world. So, as the demand increases, its value will increase which will keep up with the market and, in the long run, prevent inflation
  • Cost-effective mode of transaction –

One of the major uses of cryptocurrencies is to send money across borders. With the help of cryptocurrency, the transaction fees paid by a user is reduced to a negligible or zero amount. It does so by eliminating the need for third parties, like VISA or PayPal, to verify a transaction. This removes the need to pay any extra transaction fees.

Disadvantages of Cryptocurrency :

  • Can be used for illegal transactions –
Since the privacy and security of cryptocurrency transactions are high, it’s hard for the government to track down any user by their wallet address or keep tabs on their data. Bitcoin has been used as a mode of exchanging money in a lot of illegal deals in the past, such as buying drugs on the dark web. Cryptocurrencies are also used by some to convert their illicitly obtained money through a clean intermediary, to hide its source.
  •  Data losses can cause financial losses –

The developers wanted to create virtually untraceable source code, strong hacking defenses, and impenetrable authentication protocols.

This would make it safer to put money in cryptocurrencies than physical cash or bank vaults. But if any user loses the private key to their wallet, there’s no getting it back. The wallet will remain locked away along with the number of coins inside it. This will result in the financial loss of the user.

9. Cell phone could be an educational tool?

Cellphones are different from other devices, such as the computer or tab, as it is a personal technology. Most students have invested a great deal of time learning the features of their cell phones, and their strengths and limitations.

The cell phone can extend beyond the walls of the school or the confines of a classroom, but due to possible negative effects, such as cheating and distraction in class and visiting inappropriate websites, most schools do not allow students to bring their cell phones

Cell phones can be an effective educational, tool. Teaching and learning can be made easier if they are used wisely.

  • For example, a student can download educational applications to their phones. The apps can help teachers devise creative ways to teach and make lessons more interesting. Teachers and students can answer questions via the phones, students’ progress feedback can be gathered through the phones and there are applications to document lab and group projects and teachers’ notes. Everything is at their fingertips.

  • A teacher can also share slides, notes or any related medium through the online apps with students when they download the apps to their phones. Meaning teachers are not required to print or copy the materials and distribute them in class.
  • Students can also explore ecosystems with their cell phones in hand when studying their physical environment. While visiting a forest, they could document the ecosystem or produce a voice or written memo. For evaluation, the students can email their teacher pictures and text when their tasks are completed.

  • Therefore, the use of cell phones as an educational tool can reduce cost, time and energy, despite many quarters who feel that cell phones are a bane in schools. The learning process can be made simpler and teachers will have less problems communicating with students.

10. Will There Be A Physical Retail Store In 10-20 Years?

Are the days of going to a brick-and-mortar store to peruse the merchandise and shop behind us? Online shopping has definitely eclipsed shopping in store, as U.S. e-commerce sales grew 16% in 2017. But stores that adapt are still seeing success. Will that still be the case in 10 to 20 years? Will we move away completely from retail stores and shop entirely online?

Will there be a physical store in the future or not?

YES:

  • Even with new technology, it’s very possible that retail stores will survive. There’s something to say for the need to physically touch items and try them on before you make a purchase. However, it’s very possible that larger big-box stores will migrate online and smaller, niche stores will dominate the physical retail space. Retail stores that survive could possibly move towards a more experiential approach. Instead of endless aisles of products, these stores are more like showrooms that allow customers to touch and feel the products and then have them delivered to their homes straight from a warehouse. These stores have less inventory but can still meet the needs of customers. We’re already seeing these types of experiential stores pop up. Brands like Vans, Ikea and Apple have been building experiential stores for years with great success. That trend will likely continue to grow.
  • There’s also the social aspect of shopping to consider. People crave human interaction, and as the world becomes more digital, sometimes that reaction comes from talking with a sales associate in the store. Shopping is a social experience, and nothing can re-create wandering through a store with friends. No amount of technology can ever replace human touch and interaction. An algorithm could choose the perfect dress, but it won’t be able to listen to a customer share her excitement about the special event she is shopping
